ANNE HOOFF

Love in the Time of the Coronavirus

“For the last 15 years I have continuously used the small interiors and exteriors of my home as a photography studio to experiment and document contextual light, texture, and shape as they unfold throughout my living space. Each of these elements leaned into creating a familiar and comfortable home that I singularly enjoy. It is mine. I thought I knew and appreciated every object, every painting, every book in my surroundings until I needed to live with them every day and often all day, during the last couple of months.

While I have always rearranged and reassigned certain elements, I started to see them in a new light - literally. The arc of light during any day inside or outside allows a chair, an object, even an entire room, to have a different shape, a different texture, almost a different meaning in its familiar background.”
