ERLENE HENDRIX

Daily Pleasures

“A house is like a needy friend; it asks for lots of attention.  It demands constant cleaning and repairing and it requires what sometimes seems like bottomless funds.

But a house is also a generous giver, presenting gifts of warmth and cool; its windows and lights offer scenes, colors, and patterns; it holds treasures accumulated over the years; it embraces those we love and protects us from those we fear; it has windows to open, porches and decks, all to let us refresh ourselves in sun or shade or to smell the grasses, the flowers, the coming rain.  In other words, it can become not just a building, but a home.

My home for thirty-six years was a house in which I came to learn every color and shape it held.  But I live in a different house now. Snaps From My Home has given me the opportunity to see my new space more clearly and allow it to become ‘home’.”
