STEVE TAYLOR
“I take pictures all the time. Sometimes for my work (I’m an artist), but mostly just of stuff that catches my eye - usually because of the way the light is hitting it, or if it looks like a new or interesting arrangement of something familiar. I take a lot of pictures in and around the house. I never set anything up, and nothing is planned beyond me actually noticing it. Mostly, I use an old iPhone, sometimes I drag out the big camera. These are all taken since lockdown started in the UK (March 24).
I’ve spent some time thinking about how COVID-19 and the lockdown has affected my life. For the most part it hasn’t – most artists tend to self isolate anyway – I’ve just tried to stay busy. Lockdown activities include home hair cutting (top tip: don’t look in the mirror!), jigsaws, lots of home baking, volunteering at the food bank, and list making (I thought about photographing my lists for this project but, frankly, they make for rather dull snaps). We’re fortunate to have a decent size house and a garden big enough to stay busy in. The weather has also been quite mellow - by Scottish standards, anyway.”
