BELINDA CYCKEVIC GORDON

“My own space, my home, has always been important to me, both inside and outside the confines of its walls.  I spend time filling it with the things I love, and this brings a peace of mind. My space extends to the outdoors; as a landscape designer I have always been aware of the concept of bringing one’s living space out of the building itself into the open air, and the feeling of bringing the outside in, through windows, doors, plants, and light.

As a photographer I am most interested in light, but also capturing those small overlooked glimpses or moments that most of us overlook. The latter can often happen in the familiar, the environs we live in every day.  I notice the light coming in; how a glance at a part of a familiar place can open a door to seeing it in a new way, isolated from everything around it. Making these images spurs a sense of appreciation and gratitude. The stay-at-home months we have been through were not difficult for me. Being home is calming, and I feel very fortunate to have a place that truly feels like home to me,.”
