April 6: Susan Crave Rosen

Prompt: inspired by She’s in Monochrome at Second Street Gallery, create a work of art in any medium using only black, white, and shades of grey.

In October of 2019, Second Street Gallery curator, Kristen Chiacchia, invited a group of local artists to submit paintings using only black, white, and shades of grey (grisaille) for the exhibition She’s in Monochrome. Participating artists included Pam Black, Jessie Coles, Gray Dodson, Sam Gray, Lou Haney, Krista Townsend, and Laura Wooten. The goal of She’s in Monochrome was to encourage viewers to look beyond the typical appreciation of a work only for its color palette. Read more about the exhibition HERE.

“Black and white collage meant to be an under painting, but I like it as it is with the blind contour drawing of my husband from many years ago! I’m calling it: Paul’s Feet
