April 22: Cary Oliva

Prompt: inspired by Steve Haske, choose a mechanical object at home to deconstruct and draw. Get fascinated by its inner workings!

Possible examples for inspiration: the back of a clock, a watch, your TV remote, trusty bicycle, car engine under the hood, espresso machine. Steve Haske (Teeny Tiny Trifecta 1 & 2) says: "those who have put together a puzzle, who have experienced the frustration of finding the right piece, know the joy of seeing small, abstract, wiggly shapes snap together to form something altogether new and perhaps recognizable." Haske is an illustrator, designer, and educator who depicts imaginative worlds and everyday objects in "excessive detail".

“I tried to break away from my photography and paint a few daily and very basic mechanical items that I love - paper clips on a blanket during my Earth Day picnic by the river.”
