April 1: Laura Wooten

Prompt: inspired by Nonggirrnga Marawili, create a small sculpture or 2D work using objects found in your yard or recycled materials found around your home.

Nonggirrnga’s three paintings currently on view at SSG were created using recycled materials “found on land”. Nonggirrnga and her art centre have found innovative ways to respect Yolngu tradition while expanding the definition of “found on land” - her paintings, for example, use recycled printer toner and boards leftover from dance performances!
