Second Street Gallery is pleased to present All The Time I Feel Like Crying, a new exhibition by artist Sandy Williams IV. All The Time I Feel Like Crying explores the arbitrary nature of the systems that govern our world, with intense interest on objects that inform our conceptions of the passage of time- from clocks, to photographs, to rulers. The exhibition, created over a two-year period, featured sculpture, film, and text.

Sandy Williams IV is a sculptor and filmmaker from Virginia Beach, VA. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art and completed an intensive year of post-graduate work as a recipient of the Aunspaugh Fifth Year Fellowship. He currently lives in Richmond as a student at Virginia Commonwealth University in their top ranked Sculpture + Extended Media Program. Williams works with the mediums of sculpture and film to investigate the uniqueness of the world around him and express his reactions in an impactful way. He has exhibited his work at local galleries, including Second Street Gallery as a part of a group show during the Virginia Film Festival in 2016. Williams has worked with internationally renowned artists, including sculptors Patrick Dougherty and Mark Dion.

Williams says of the exhibition, “I am very excited to be showing at SSG again, especially during the VFF! Almost exactly two years ago I was part of a UVA student group show in the same space, so having a solo show opening this year feels pretty surreal.”

A reception for the exhibition was held on First Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, with remarks made by the artist at 6:30 pm.
